THE BOWL IS BACK!! After a 15 year hiatus, the ISRC is bringing back Sputum Bowl. What is the Sputum Bowl you ask? It is a competition in which teams answer questions regarding Respiratory Care. Questions from 15 categories ranging from history, pharmacology, Neonatal and Adult Care will be asked. This year the Sputum bowl will be held on Wednesday June 1st at 5:30 at the ISRC Annual Conference at Drury Lane in Oakbrook. There will be both a student division and practitioner division. Winners from both divisions will receive free registration to the ISRC Annual Conference next year and will have the right to represent the ISRC at the National Sputum Bowl competition held during the AARC International Congress in Tampa Bay Florida in November 2011. Sounds like fun! How does one compete? That is easy!! Form a team of 2 to 4 members. Student teams must be currently enrolled in school or have graduated within the year (2011). Practitioner teams have to be a credentialed practicing therapist holding either a CRT or RRT credential from the NBRC. All team members MUST be an AARC member. There is NO limit of the amount of teams from an institution (hospital or school). Competing teams will be asked to submit 15 questions prior to sputum bowl competition. If you are interested in forming a team and wish to compete or have more questions, please contact the Sputum Bowl Committee Chair: Keith_Hirst@rush.edu BRING THE BOWL back to your home!
