The Illinois Society for Respiratory Care is powered by volunteers who bring energy, expertise, and purpose to every corner of our profession. Committees are where the real work happens — from educational events to advocacy efforts, public outreach, and professional recognition.

🔧 How We Work

ISRC committees meet regularly throughout the year to plan events, develop resources, and strengthen our professional network. Each committee sets goals and reports progress at quarterly Board of Directors meetings.

Education & Student

Education Co-Chairs: Lori Badgely (Ch 5) and Alyssa Sichrovsky (Ch 2)
Student Co-Chairs: Brandon Macak (Ch 3), Jason Ruiz (Ch 2), and Skylar Mackiewicz (Ch 3)

This committee supports student involvement, professional growth, and educational programming statewide. It coordinates the Student Series, fostering collaboration among Illinois respiratory care programs. This committee supports the Sputum Bowl, HOSA, and more!

Legislative / Government Advocacy

Co-Chairs: Robin Robinson (Ch 2) and Lexie Caraway (Ch 4)

AARC PACT: Lisa Zaenger (Ch 2) and Lexie Caraway (Ch 4)

This committee works to strengthen professional recognition and advance respiratory care legislation in Illinois. It also encourages grassroots participation and provides advocacy training for members.

Program

Co-Chairs: Anne Geistkemper (Ch 2) and Molly Martin (Ch 3)

This committee provides leadership direction and operational support for the ISRC Annual Conference, Specialty Conferences, and statewide educational programming.

Awards & Recognition: Midge Seim (Ch 3)

This team grows ISRC membership, promotes engagement, and fosters connection among respiratory therapists across all chapters. Awards including RCP of the Year, Legacy Award, and Student of the Year, recognizing excellence and dedication throughout the profession, are given annually.

Public Relations & Social Media

Chairs: Lexie Caraway (Ch 4) and Felicia Strauch (Ch 5)

This team leads ISRC’s digital storytelling, social media presence, and public awareness campaigns during Respiratory Care Week and throughout the year.

Nominations & Elections

Chair: Sondra Shaffer (Ch 1) (Co-Chair Needed!)

This committee oversees the nomination and election process for ISRC leadership positions and awards, ensuring transparency and fairness across all regions. Nominations are taken in the fall of each odd year. Elections are held in February of each even year.

Finance Committee

Chairs: Treasurer Ankeet Patel (Ch 2) and Lexie Caraway (Ch 4)

This committee maintains financial oversight, leads budget planning, and ensures responsible stewardship of ISRC resources.

Bylaws / Strategic Planning

This committee reviews and recommends updates to the ISRC Bylaws to ensure alignment with AARC guidance and state regulations. It also supports long-range strategic planning initiatives.
