ISRC at Illinois HOSA State Conference

On Thursday, March 19th, 2026, the ISRC was invited to participate in the Illinois HOSA State Conference. Lori Badgley and Kristin King-Whiteside from Chapter 5, Alyssa Sichrovsky from Chapter 2, and several Chapter 5 students represented the respiratory care profession to high school students across the state.

Hands-On Activities
Participants practiced infant intubation, auscultation, breath sound identification, lung ventilation, and saw the effects of cigarette smoking on the lungs.
Career Presentation
Lori Badgley spoke to 30 participants about preparing for the profession, RT programs in Illinois, and the vast roles respiratory therapists play in healthcare.
Skills Competition
Over 20 students competed, completing 2 respiratory skills judged by Lori Badgley and Alyssa Sichrovsky. Each participant received a respiratory pen as a thank-you.
